One example of this partnership between Dermax and its Customers was the supply of Dermasfalt® CSF-250, a product suitable for permanently sealing cracks and joints in reinforced concrete or asphalt pavements, sealing joints between these pavements, and allowing permanent repair of potholes of any size.

The maintenance engineering division of this client, which happens to be the main manufacturer of arcrafts in Brazil, at its main unit located in the city of São José dos Campos, SP inquired Dermax to present a technical solution for the recovery of outdoor pavement areas of this large manufacturing unit, where jet aircrafts traffic and park. The main problem was that jet engines suffered periodic and extremely costly damage due to the presence of loose particulate materials in these yards and runways, which were eventually sucked up by the turbines.

Several problems were observed, such as cracked reinforced concrete pavements with holes of different sizes on the edges of their slabs and at their joints, steel grates for rainwater drainage with poor support and sealing, bituminous cracked pavements especially near the transition joints with rigid concrete pavements, presenting holes of different sizes and particulate loose materials.

Even though such services seem to be an easy solution at first glance, the client had already extensively tested several polymeric and cementitious products, manufactured by large companies and renowned brands, but without obtaining results that lasted longer than a few months, when the repairs began to fracture and come off.

Having heard about Dermasfalt® through a consulting firm, the client requested a technical visit, when a series of applications were requested as a test installation at the unit in São José dos Campos, SP, in particular with the application of Dermasfalt CSF-250.

Dermax then carried out material removal services on damaged old repaired areas, joints, concrete and asphalt pavements including next to water drainage grates, and transition joints between rigid and flexible pavements, with the installation of Dermasfalt CSF-250 and WP-50 in sealing and recovering areas, where Dermasfalt® was applied in layers until the repairs were leveled along the track, adding mineral aggregates in larger volume repairs, to reduce overall cost and structure repairs in larger holes.

The result was announced only 6 months later, with the hiring of Dermax to supply Dermasfalt, special equipment for processing the product, technical assistance, and permanent supervision of recovery works in all of the company’s outdoor pavement yards. These services were carried out in partnership with one of the maintenance companies already on a maintenance contract with the client, for cost reduction purposes.

All parties celebrated the result of this partnership, where the customer’s maintenance engineering department found a definitive, highly durable solution to their problems and Dermax obtained another good reference for the quality and effectiveness of its products.
